Well despite burst pipes in the studio when it got to minus 16 over Christmas and the New Year we opened on schedule last week and I was glad to see all my lovely ladies back again full of enthusiasm and great ideas for making.  It was soooo nice to be back in the studio again and it was so neat and tidy too - having spent 8 hours clearing it up from the burst pipes!  Not too much damage though as we had realised that they had frozen and it was a 'controlled' thaw.  Just a bit costly as we had to re-plumb certain areas and at the moment the water heaters are out of action.

This Saturday 15th January,  is the first of our 2011 courses.  The 8 week jewellery skills course where I teach all the basic skills needed to start making - for those who haven't heard of this course check it out on the website  http://www.touchmark.co.uk/page13.htm  Unfortunately for some, the course filled really quickly but don't worry if you couldn't get a place I will be running another in the spring -  so watch this space or sign up on the mailing list on the website  http://www.touchmark.co.uk/page7.htm

Other half day jewellery courses coming up are:  metal forming with the hydraulic press, anticlastic raising, fold forming, stone setting, salt water etching and casting!  and as well as the regular visiting tutors, Tam Savill and Clare Johns who teach Enamelling and Resins  I am hoping to have a new tutor for anodising aluminium.
Other plans for 2011 include an 8 week metal clay course which will be half a day per week where we will be exploring all sorts of wonderful techniques so it's going to be a busy and exciting year.

Today, the electrician has been in the studio putting in more lights and sockets which has made a great difference - and he has also put an external light up outside so no more groping your way along the driveway back to your cars!
